CAN MOUTHWASH WHITEN YOUR TEETH?

With coffee, red wine and the British favourite breakfast tea being some of life’s greatest pleasures, it’s no surprise that so many of us are looking for ways to whiten our teeth. Another frequently asked question is whether mouthwash can actually whiten teeth or not. Whilst whitening mouthwash doesn’t get the same amount of social media attention as teeth whitening strips, they can be a great option for several reasons.

WHY ARE WHITENING MOUTHWASHES A GOOD OPTION?

Mouthwashes are simple to use and are likely to already be a part of your daily oral care regime when compared to teeth whitening pens and strips. Whitening mouthwash can also be used throughout the day to freshen your breath and it’s great for preventing stains between professional hygienist appointments. They also tend to be more purse friendly than fancy and fiddly strips.

DO WHITENING MOUTHWASHES WORK?

Most whitening mouthwashes contain an ingredient called hydrogen peroxide. This is the bleaching agent that’s a component of many professional teeth-whitening kits. It whitens and brightens teeth via a chemical process and has been used in dental products for decades.

Most of the time, it is well regulated and is pretty safe but emerging evidence is showing that long-term use can cause damage to your teeth and gums. This is why whitening mouthwashes can cause sensitivity for some people.

We don't use hydrogen peroxide.  We use a combination of alternative ingredients including plant enzymes.

HOW TO USE WHITENING MOUTHWASH?

Our clinical study showed that the Waken Whitening Mouthwash can whiten teeth by up to 5 shades when used twice a day for two weeks. Based on this, we recommend integrating our whitening mouthwash into your morning and evening dental care regime.

Start by flossing with the Peppermint Floss, then pouring 20ml of Whitening Mouthwash into your Stainless-steel Mouthwash Cup for a perfect serving size. Swish the whitening mouthwash for 30 seconds then spit. This will also remove any debris in your mouth from flossing.

Finish your routine by brushing your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste for two minutes.

OUR FINAL WORD

The Waken Whitening Mouthwash is alcohol-free and has been designed to be gentle, safe and effective. We use natural peppermint extract to flavour the mouthwash instead of artificial menthol. Like all our mouthwashes, our whitening mouthwash contains fluoride to help prevent cavities. If you have any dental concerns we recommend speaking with your dentist before using it.
