Rylan's Top Tips

Here’s how to brush properly, the Waken way:

  • Brush twice a day, ideally in the morning and before bed
  • Use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste
  • Brush for two minutes each time, covering every surface – front, back and biting edges
  • Use small, circular motions with a soft-bristled brush to be gentle on your gums
  • Spit, don’t rinse – rinsing your mouth straight after brushing washes away the fluoride, which means it can’t get to work strengthening your teeth

Brushing isn’t just about freshening breath. It’s about clearing away plaque and food particles so your mouth stays healthy and protected all day long.

Frequently asked questions

Are your toothpastes suitable for vegans?

Yes. All our toothpastes are certified by the Vegetarian Society as Vegan Friendly.

Do your toothpastes contain fluoride?

Yes, all our toothpastes contain fluoride at the NHS recommended levels. This toothpaste contains fluoride at 1,450 ppm F.

How do I use your toothpaste?

Wet your toothbrush and shake off any excess water. Squeeze a small amout of toothpaste onto the bristles of your toothbrush. A pea-sized amount is usually enough for most adults. Brush the tops, sides and backs of all your teeth, making sure to reach every surface. This should take about 2 minutes. Remember to spit out the toothpaste when you have finished.

Do your toothpastes contain SLS?

None of our toothpastes contain SLS, which is a harsh detergent. You might find that the toothpastes foam a little less than old-fashioned toothpastes, but don't worry, they are still doing a great job cleaning your teeth without the cheap foaming agent.

How do I recycle my toothpaste tube?

Our new toothpaste tubes are made from mono-material HDPE, which means they’re designed to be widely recyclable in household plastic recycling. We recommend squeezing out as much toothpaste as you can before recycling, but a full rinse isn’t usually necessary. That said, recycling guidelines can vary, so it’s always best to check with your local council to see what’s accepted in your area and whether they require packaging to be rinsed.
