Reviews of the Sonic Toothbrush

In their words, not ours.

  • ★★★★★

Excellent value for money, the charge lasts ages and most importantly our dentist is pleased with the results!

  • ★★★★★

I'm having a very positive experience with this toothbrush. It seems very well made, is light and compact, and works effectively. It charges quickly and battery life is good. The three different cleaning settings are helpful. Recommended.

An excellent toothbrush. I really like the timer on it. Gentle on my gums.

Brushing with the Waken Sonic Toothbrush at a bathroom mirror
Every day

Two minutes, twice a day. The brush does the counting.

  • A pulse every 30 seconds moves you round the four quarters of your mouth, and the brush switches off at two minutes.
  • One charge lasts up to 60 brushes, so the magnetic USB cable can live in a drawer.
  • Heads click off and on. Change to a fresh one every three months.
How it works

Three modes, one button, soft bristles.

  • Three modes, one button.

Daily for every day, Sensitive for gums that want a lighter touch, Deep Clean when you want more. Not used to a sonic brush? Start on Sensitive.

  • Precision-Power at the head.

The motor sits up under the head, so the power is delivered where the bristles meet the tooth rather than in the handle.

  • Soft bristles.

Soft nylon bristles derived from castor oil, on a bio-plastic head that clicks off and on.

Waken Whitening Toothpaste 75ml tube
The toothpaste in the box

Whitening Toothpaste. For a brighter smile.

Our best-selling toothpaste, £8 on its own, is in the kit. Use it twice a day with the brush.

  • Natural plant enzymes, papain and bromelain from papaya and pineapple, help lift everyday surface stains. No hydrogen peroxide.
  • Still a toothpaste first: 1450ppm fluoride helps prevent cavities and strengthen enamel, and it freshens breath.
  • SLS-free with a light foam and natural peppermint.

Try it for 30 days.

Questions, answered.

What is in the box?

One Waken Sonic Toothbrush in the colour you pick, with a head fitted and the USB charging cord. Three replacement heads. One Waken Whitening Toothpaste 75ml. Bought separately the three come to £45; the Sonic Starter is £35 with free UK delivery.

How do I charge the sonic toothbrush?

Our sonic toothbrushes have an excellent battery life, so you probably won't need to charge it as often as you are used to with your existing electric toothbrush. To charge the brush, simply attach the magnetic USB cable to the charging port—it will snap into place when aligned correctly. Then plug the USB end into any standard USB power source, and the brush will begin charging automatically. Ensure the toothbrush is completely dry before charging. Do not charge in the bathroom or near water.

How often should I change my sonic toothbrush head?

We advise you to change your sonic toothbrush head at least every three months.

What do I do if I find the sonic toothbrush too powerful?

If you aren't used to a sonic toothbrush, then the first few times you use it may feel tickly or awkward. Stick with it! Over time you will get used to this feeling. There are also three settings on the brush. Use the lowest power setting if you are uncomfortable.

How does the sonic toothbrush timer work?

Dentists recommend brushing for at least 2 minutes twice a day. Our Sonic Toothbrush timer works by pausing briefly every 30 seconds for each quarter of the mouth and turning off fully when the 2 minute brushing time has ended.

Is this sonic toothbrush suitable for children?

This toothbrush has been designed for adults. It can be used for children, however, younger children may find the brush vibrations too powerful even on the lowest setting.

What if I don't get on with it? Can I get my money back?

Yes. Try the kit for 30 days. If you don't get on with the brush, email hello@wakencare.com and we refund the full £35 for the whole kit, not just the brush. We take care of the rest.

What makes your sonic toothbrush different?

There are two things that make our toothbrush different from other toothbrushes on the market and these include our commitment to performance and sustainability. We have introduced a new type of Precision-Power Technology that brings the motor of the brush up under the head. We also use more thoughtful materials in our handle and our heads.

What are your sonic toothbrush heads made of?

Our sonic toothbrush heads are made from a special type of plastic that's derived entirely from bio-based resources, specifically waste products. What's more, the production process uses 100% certified renewable electricity.

How do I recycle my sonic toothbrush heads?

Our toothbrush heads are made using a bio-based plastic derived from waste materials, but this does not mean they are suitable for all household recycling streams.

Because local recycling rules vary across the UK, please check with your council before putting used brush heads in your recycling bin. If your local service does not accept this type of material, please check whether a specialist recycling point near you accepts oral care products. These can often be found at supermarkets and high street stores.

We know recycling options for small oral care items are not perfect, which is why we continue to review better material and recycling options as they become available.
